Web Analytics, Site Statistics and Web Traffic monitoring can be a challenge for business owners.
Monitoring your website’s visitor statistics is critical. Analyzing these statistics will show not only how much traffic a website is getting (or not getting), but also where these visitors are coming from, what they’re looking at, and even where they go when they leave. Web Analytics (website statistics) can show areas your site is performing well, and areas it may need some work. Taking this information and putting it to real-world use can be a bit confusing – and very time consuming. That’s where Rugged Moose can help.
Hits, page-loads, bounce rates, exit pages, referrers.. What the heck does all this mean??
Every website that Rugged Moose creates has detailed web analytics built right in. We believe that analyzing site statistics is a very important piece of the website equation. A few of the many analytics we continually monitor:
Unique Visitors – Basically, how much web traffic is your site getting? What are you averaging every day/week/month, and how do the changes we make to the site impact its visibility and popularity in search engines.
Page Loads – Getting people to the site is great, but if everyone that lands on the site only looks at a page or two, we need to make changes..
Bounce Rate – Bounce rate is the percentage of people that land on a page, then immediately leave, without exploring deeper into the website. We typically use bounce rate as a measure of how effective a landing page is. This can be a bit misleading, however, as some visitors are simply looking for a phone number, and may find it on the main page of the site.
Referrers – Where are your website visitors coming from? Google search results page? Local business directory listing? This can be very helpful in deciding where to target advertising, and can give a good quick view of what is working and what isn’t.
Keyword Performance – What keywords are performing well in search engines, driving traffic to your website? What keywords do you WANT to perform better, and what are our strategic options for meeting that goal?
Other important site stats that we’ll get into greater detail on later: average page loads per visitor, average time on site, inbound links, and on and on and on..
There are many other stats we monitor for our clients, but will spare you the details. With Rugged Moose, you can rest assured that our web-nerds are watching your site very carefully, and are making adjustments to the website accordingly.
